What Makes a Good
Map
If you want to know what makes a good map, take a
look at a lot of good maps in the ESRI Map Book. You can order the
latest version of the Map
Book from ESRI, or examine many of the maps online at the Map
Gallery.
Things to Consider
Before Making a Map
The Federal Geographic Data Committee has a home page
for more information on Metadata
standards.
The University of Wisconsin has reviews of a wide
variety of Metadata
tools for GIS.
One of the best Metadata tools for use with ArcView
is the NOAA ArcView
Metadata collector extension. This great tool will help you
document any new geographic data that you produce with ArcView.
