Mapping with Common Image Types

Digital raster graphics are scanned georegistered images of paper maps that make great backgrounds for ArcView layouts. Find out more about them at the USGS Digital Raster Graphics homepage.

To manipulate the different layers of colered features in a digital raster graphic, try suing the DRG extension tool.

Aerial photos are a great addition to many maps, and orthophotos are aerials taken to match USGS quad maps. Find out more at the USGS Digital Orthophoto Quads Homepage.
